Frederickson has a history of violent crimes, including a 1987 conviction for aggravated assault for attacking a 17-year-old prostitute and a 1995 conviction for unlawful confinement and possession of a dangerous weapon in connection with a domestic incident with a domestic partner. .

Following the manslaughter conviction, prosecutors sought to designate Frederickson as a dangerous offender, but a judge said the Crown did not meet the legal standard for the designation.

Last April, Frederickson was the subject of a similar appeal by the VPD after failing to return home halfway. He was found and captured days later.

Police described Frederickson as a six-foot man, of slim build, with a long gray beard and long gray hair. He was last seen wearing a dark baseball cap, a dark brown plaid jacket with black lines, a black hoodie, dark gray pants, black shoes and black sunglasses.
