Trade season has officially begun in the PWHL.
The first deal in league history was completed on Sunday when PWHL Boston sent Toronto-born defenseman Sophie Jaques to PWHL Minnesota in exchange for Kelowna, BC, native Abby Cook and Finnish forward Susanna Tapani.
Jaques, 23, was the 10th overall pick in the first PWHL draft and signed a three-year contract.
Cook, 25, signed with Minnesota as a free agent on a one-year deal, while Tapani, 30, was a fifth-round draft pick and has a two-year deal.

It took a little time, but PWHL Toronto is now a tough team to play against
The league is expected to announce an official trade deadline later this week, but this first deal should grease the wheels for more between now and the soon-to-be-announced deadline.
All agreements must result in both teams meeting league roster specifications. That must happen before Wednesday’s games regarding his particular deal, which leaves Boston one player over the active roster limit and Minnesota one player below the limit.
