From the bottom of the ocean to the top of the cloud line, the Sony World Photography Awards 2024 offer a truly global approach to image creation.
This year’s competition garnered 395,000 images from over 220 countries and is incredibly diverse in themes and locations. Jair Fernando Coll Rubiano transports us to the annual celebration of the Black Child of God in Colombia, while Mitul Kajaria documents the efforts of a collective of women to improve the lives of impoverished families. Others focus on the natural world, such as Seongmin Park, which captures the primordial bond between parents and children.
The photographs shown here are on several short lists, although the overall winners will be announced later this spring and will be on display from April 19 to May 6 at Somerset House in London.
