A 27-year-old man faces five charges after a stolen vehicle was recovered following a burglary at a Richmond Hill home.
York Regional Police said the victim was entering his residence on February 3 around 10 p.m. in the area of Observatory Lane and Yonge St. when a man allegedly approached him and demanded the keys to his Subaru Crosstrek.
Police said the suspect and victim allegedly fought over the keys and the suspect overpowered him and fled in his vehicle.

Less than an hour later, officers said they located the stolen vehicle in a nearby parking lot at Yonge and Major Mackenzie Dr. W. A suspect was detained when he exited a store.
Police said the suspect attempted to tell them he was the owner of the vehicle, but his identity was eventually confirmed and officers discovered that several items had allegedly been stolen from the store.
Morgan Schmidt, of no fixed address, has been charged with burglary, shoplifting, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and obstructing a police officer.
He was arrested by York police with the help of investigators from the Provincial Joint Auto Theft Task Force.
